Zink is een essentieel mineraal dat je lichaam zelf niet kan aanmaken of opslaan. Je moet het dus dagelijks blijven aanvullen en dat kan met voeding zoals vlees, schaal- en schelpdieren, zuivel, noten en peulvruchten. Niet alle zinkvormen worden even goed opgenomen. Daarom gebruiken wij zinkbisglycinaat van Albion®: een gepatenteerde vorm met bewezen hoge opneembaarheid, die ook zacht is voor je maag.

Zinkbisglycinaat is een vorm waarbij zink is gebonden aan het aminozuur glycine. Je lichaam neemt dit soort bindingen makkelijker op, via een apart kanaal in je darm. Daardoor komt het zink sneller en beter op de juiste plek. Ook is het milder voor je maag en kan je het gewoon met een maaltijd innemen.

De ADH staat voor Aanbevolen Dagelijkse Hoeveelheid en is de hoeveelheid die nodig is om een tekort te voorkomen. Voor zink is dat 9 mg voor mannen en 7 mg voor vrouwen. De veilige bovengrens is vastgesteld op 25 mg per dag in Europa en 40 mg per dag in de Verenigde Staten.

Met 15 mg blijf je dus, ook als je de ADH al via je voeding haalt, onder de maximale hoeveelheid per dag. En hoewel wij de best opneembare vorm gebruiken, wordt een zinksupplement nooit voor de volle 100% opgenomen.

Dat kan, maar het hoeft niet per se. Andere zinkvormen moeten concurreren met stoffen als calcium of ijzer in je voeding, waardoor ze minder goed worden opgenomen. Zinkbisglycinaat werkt anders: het wordt opgenomen via een apart kanaal in je darm en wordt dus ook met een maaltijd goed opgenomen.

Voor de meeste mensen is zink veilig om dagelijks te nemen, maar zink kan de opname van bepaalde medicijnen beïnvloeden, zoals antibiotica of schildkliermedicatie. Neem je medicatie? Overleg dan altijd eerst even met je arts.
